Open Farm Day

We just had our first ever Open Farm Day on October 20, 2018! I want to share some pictures of the event with you!
The day started out rainy and I was worried the whole thing would be a bust… But, around 1pm – just when we were getting started – the sky began to clear. So whew! That was a huge relief.

We opened the new farm store for the first time! That was a huge success and I look forward to meeting more of you there.

Halifax County High School’s Mighty Comets Pep Band kicked off the event for us. Zach is a part of the band and this was a big deal for us. The band sounded great!

The kids (and a few adults) enjoyed face painting.
Pigs, goats and cows were on standby in the petting zoo!

Kendy Sawyer of Hinesite Farm gave demonstrations with her Kerry oxen team, Cole and Cannon.

Arianna and Elizabeth McCann of Windsong Farm also gave oxen demonstrations with their pair of young Kerry oxen. I still can’t get over the fact that these two kids have accomplished so much with these baby oxen! They are amazing!
I believe a good time was had by all and I hope to see you at our spring Open Farm event!
